Dear all,

A competition for a permanent position as a junior investigator on Coronavirus pathophysiology is opening in INRAe Jouy En Josas France. Please find below the description of the position profile:

You will work in the new CORONAVIRUS team within the Virology and Molecular Immunity unit located in Jouy-en-Josas. The research theme of this team is focused on the study of the pathogenicity and species specificity of human and veterinary coronaviruses.

The major goal of the team is to understand the pathophysiology of coronaviruses and to consider different therapeutic strategies. You will work in a context currently focused on SARS-CoV-2. We are particularly interested in the pathophysiology of the virus in the upper respiratory tract and the efficacy of antiviral treatments in the nasal cavity. The team has access, directly or through collaborations, to different approaches ranging from the development of biochemically characterized nanoligands to their functional validation in vitro and in vivo, and to the study of host-pathogen relationships using the hamster as a model. You will work in particular on the molecular virology of coronaviruses in order to strengthen this aspect within the team. All the data from these different approaches will provide key information to better understand the pathogenicity and transmission of coronaviruses, as well as to develop innovative therapeutic approaches.

Competition open to candidates holding a PhD in molecular and cellular virology and / or viral pathophysiology. Experience desired in these areas, expertise on rodent models may be an additional asset. Fluency in English is desirable as well as long-term international experience: successful candidates without such experience will have to spend one year abroad at the end of the internship year.
