The Institute for Integrative Biology of the Cell is seeking to recruit new group leaders to join the Virology Department
The application deadline is March 15th, 2025
The Institute for Integrative Biology of the Cell (I2BC) is a leading research institute on Molecular and Cellular biology that is affiliated to Paris-Saclay University, CNRS and CEA1. I2BC hosts 60 independent research teams addressing questions ranging from fundamental aspects of life to its biomedical and environmental applications. The Institute offers a vibrant and dynamic scientific environment through its five Departments.
Candidate selection will be based on the quality and originality of the scientific project, the candidate’s academic track-record, and the potential to synergize with ongoing research themes in the Virology Department. Special consideration will be given to research programs on emerging viruses, host cell takeover, viral-induced cell compartmentalization, and prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell antiviral defences.
The candidate’s research will be supported by state-of-the-art I2BC core facilities, including light and electron microscopy imaging, cytometry, proteomics, next-generation sequencing and structural biology (e.g. cryoEM). Several high-end equipments are hosted in Biosafety L2, and in the near future, L3 facilities.
Laboratory and office space, financial support for laboratory setup, access to I2BC technology platforms and mentoring will be provided to the laureates.
Early-career candidates must meet the criteria to compete for national and international research funding. Candidates without a permanent position in France will be expected to secure one within the French research ecosystem. I2BC and the Virology Department are committed to offering robust support throughout this process. The Institute has a strong track record of success in providing such support, currently hosting several ERC-Stg, ATIP/Avenir and ANR JCJC teams.
Mid-career candidates holding a permanent position in France are also encouraged to apply.
Applications shall include a motivation letter, a CV, a 2-page description of research achievements, a 4-page research program and contact details for three professional references.
Selected candidates will be invited to give a seminar and to visit the institute in April-May 2025.
An international selection committee will then interview shortlisted candidates in June 2025.
